Character/Theme

In the book Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde their are many main characters that play a important role in the book. One of those characters draws my attention the most, that character is Mr. Utterson. Why you ask its beacouse even tho he is silent,  but he is deadly. Mr Utterson is  he is very cautious even tho he is nice. Its like if someone makes a move he reacts right away. like saying the silent ones always win they are like the planners they find out what is going on. Also if something happens you wouldnt expect it from them. That makes me want to know more about him makes you think why doesnt he talk, It makes you ask what is going on in the brain of his. Mr Utterson plays a big role of creating the theme of the book, In my opinion the theme is that friendship should not always be trusted. That friend can deceive you any time at any moment and you wont even know it. So like i said Mr Utterson is a very cautious person he knows whats going on around him, this is what i think in my perspective the theme is and Mr Utterson playing a big role in it.

  1. I have to disagree. I think Mr.Utterson is actually the slow character in this story. Because he doesnt want to see the bad of anyone. He wants to find the logical answers to everything. Also, he sees the good in everybody and tries not to see flaws.
